Henderson Named C-USA Offensive Player of the Week

Sophomore Tyler Henderson was named C-USA co-Offensive Player of the Week.

TULSA, Okla. - The University of Tulsa sophomore Tyler Henderson was named Conference USA co-Offensive Player of the Week after averaging 6.45 kills per set and hitting .323 in three matches last weekend, the league office announced Monday.

Henderson totaled 71 kills and 75.5 points (6.86 points per set) at the IPFW Invitational. She added six blocks and 16 digs.

"We are very pleased with the numbers Tyler put up against three quality opponents," head coach Ed Allen said. "We expect those numbers to improve as the season progresses and she becomes more comfortable as a six-rotation player."

In Friday's match against host IPFW, she slammed 24 kills (8.0 k/s), hit .432, added a pair of blocks and a pair of digs and totaled 26.5 points. Saturday against Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Henderson blasted 26 kills (5.2 k/s), and tallied three blocks and nine digs, totaling 27.5 points. In TU's second match Saturday against Saint Louis, she recorded 21 kills (7.0 k/s), hit .347, and had three blocks and five digs, totaling 21.5 points in the match.

The Golden Hurricane returns to action next weekend at the Powerade/Asics Challenge in San Francisco. TU opens the tournament Friday at 6:30 p.m. CT against Washington State. The Hurricane plays twice Saturday, against San Francisco at 2 p.m. CT and against UC Santa Barbara at 7 p.m. CT.

Tulsa plays host to the Radisson Tulsa Airport Invitational Sept. 10-11 at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. Admission to all TU volleyball matches is free.
