SKILLMAN, N.J. - The University of Tulsa women's tennis team was named the No. 32-ranked team in the Campbell/ITA College Tennis Rankings as the duel season is set to get underway in the coming week, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced today.
This is the highest ranking to open the spring season for the Golden Hurricane since the 2001 campaign, when TU began the spring with a No. 26 national ranking.
Senior Jo-Anne Karaitiana earned her first-ever ITA singles ranking, as she was slotted at No. 112. She was the lone member of the squad to crack the top 125. No doubles team earned a national rank.
Karaitiana posted a stellar 9-3 mark during the fall campaign, which included a straight-set victory over then No. 57 Rebekka Hanle of Rice.
Tulsa is set to begin the spring season with home matches Jan. 14 against both Arkansas-Pine Bluff (10 a.m.) and Oral Roberts (5 p.m.). Both matches will be played at Case Tennis Center.
