Volleyball Places Four on All-Conference USA Teams

Junior Tyler Henderson was named C-USA Volleyball Player of the Year for the second straight season.

TULSA, Okla. - Tulsa junior Tyler Henderson was named Conference USA Volleyball Player of the Year for the second straight year, and Jessica Adams was named Libero of the Year while head coach Steven McRoberts garnered Co-Coach of the Year honors, the league office announced Wednesday.

Henderson, Adams and junior outside hitter Diana Silva were selected to the All-C-USA First Team and sophomore outside hitter Kellie Culbertson was an All-C-USA Second Team selection in a vote by the league's coaches.

Henderson, a native of Oklahoma City, leads C-USA and ranks seventh in the NCAA in kills per set (4.81) and 12th in the NCAA in points per set (5.08). She ranks second in C-USA in hitting percentage (.352). In C-USA matches, Henderson leads the league in kills per set (4.59), ranks second in points per set (4.79) and ranks fourth in hitting percentage (.346). She has tallied double-digit kills in 28 matches and 20 or more kills seven times. She has averaged at least 4.00 kills per set in 25 matches, and 5.00 kills per set in 15 matches. This is Henderson's third straight first-team all-conference selection.

Jessica Adams was named C-USA Libero of the Year and an All-C-USA First Team selection.


Adams, also from Oklahoma City, leads the league in digs per set in C-USA matches (5.15) and ranks fourth in digs per set (4.88) overall. She ranks second in C-USA in service aces in league matches (0.30 per set) and among the top-15 in service aces overall. She also ranks 61st in the nation in digs per set. Adams has recorded double-digit digs in 31 matches, and averaged 5.00 dig/s in 24 matches and 4.00 dig/s 20 times. She leads a TU defense that averages 16.39 digs per set overall and 17.58 digs per set in league play. She has led a passing game that contributes to a .264 hitting percentage, which leads C-USA and ranks 15th in the nation. This is Adams' third all-conference honor and first time as a first-team selection.

Diana Silva was selected to the All-C-USA First Team.


Silva, a native of Niteroi, Brazil, has been a stellar six-rotation player all season, ranking second on the team in kills and third in digs. She has tallied 13 double-doubles this year and ranks seventh in C-USA in kills per set (3.30) overall and fifth in kills per set (3.72) in C-USA matches. She also ranks 11th in digs per set in C-USA matches (3.80) and 14th in digs per set overall (3.40). She ranks eighth in the league in points per set in C-USA matches (4.00) and 11th in points per set overall (3.62). She ranks among the top-20 in the league in service aces overall (0.22). She has tallied double-digit kills in 19 matches and averaged at least 3.00 kills per set 19 times, and 4.00 kills per set 10 times. This is Silva's second all-conference honor and first time as a first-team selection.

Kellie Culbertson was selected to the All-C-USA Second Team.


Culberson, a native of Long Beach, Calif., has also been a stellar six-rotation player all season, ranking third on the team in kills and second in digs. She has tallied 11 double-doubles this season and ranks 15th in C-USA in digs per set (3.34) overall and 12th in league matches (3.61). She averages 2.54 kills per set overall and 2.89 kills per set in C-USA matches. She ranks seventh in C-USA with 0.26 service aces per set in league matches, and 11th in C-USA with 0.25 aces per set overall ... ranks among the top 20 in points per set (3.36) in C-USA matches. She has averaged at least 3.00 kills per set in 16 matches.

TU Head Coach Steven McRoberts was named C-USA Co-Coach of the Year.


McRoberts is in his first season at the helm of the Golden Hurricane. He has already led TU to a 27-5 record and the Conference USA Championship with an 18-1 mark thus far. It is Tulsa's second-straight C-USA title, and the Hurricane will play in the NCAA Tournament beginning on Dec. 1.

The Golden Hurricane closes out the regular season on the road at SMU at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
