Volleyball Closes Regular Season at SMU Saturday

TULSA, Okla. - The Tulsa volleyball team closes out the regular season Saturday when it travels to Conference USA rival SMU for a match at 1 p.m. at Moody Coliseum.
The Golden Hurricane (27-5, 18-1 C-USA) faces off against the Mustangs (14-16, 10-9 C-USA) in the final match of the regular season. The Hurricane has already clinched the C-USA title and will play in the NCAA Tournament, beginning Dec. 1. Tulsa is hitting .264 as a team (1654-569-4116) with 1,654 kills (15.04 k/s), 1,551 assists (14.10 a/s), 153 service aces (1.39 sa/s), 1,816 digs (16.51 dig/s) and 163.0 blocks (1.48 blk/s). Hurricane opponents are hitting .179 (1273-575-3894) with 1,273 kills (11.57 k/s), 1,201 assists (10.92 a/s), 75 aces (0.68 sa/s), 1,660 digs (15.09 dig/s), and 220.5 total blocks (2.00 blk/s).
Tulsa is led on the outside by junior Tyler Henderson, who has 529 kills (4.81 kills per set), a .352 attack percentage and 558.5 points for the Hurricane. Junior Diana Silva has 333 kills (3.30 k/s), 22 aces and 343 digs (3.40 dig/s). Sophomore Kellie Culbertson has 277 kills (2.54 dig/s), 27 aces and 364 digs (3.34 dig/s). Senior Kelsey Hancock has 189 kills (1.73 k/s) for TU.
Freshman middle blocker Carly Boatwright has 162 kills, 22 aces and 79.0 blocks. Sophomore Miriele Gobbo has 71.0 blocks and 112 kills. Junior libero Jessica Adams leads Tulsa with 537 digs (4.88 dig/s) and has 27 service aces. Junior setter Jordan Clampitt has 902 assists (8.35 a/s) and 210 digs (1.94 dig/s). Freshman Bailey Clampitt has 487 assists (5.47 a/s) and 116 digs (1.30 dig/s).
SMU hits .193 as a team (1470-623-4379) with 1,470 kills (12.46 k/s), 1,383 assists (11.72 a/s), 101 service aces (0.86 sa/s), 2,044 digs (17.32 dig/s) and 322.0 blocks (2.73 blk/s). The Mustangs' opponents are hitting .184 (1588-719-4718) with 1,588 kills (13.46 k/s), 1,506 assists (12.76 a/s), 144 aces (1.22 sa/s), 1,984 digs (16.81 dig/s), and 236.0 total blocks (2.00 blk/s).
Tulsa and SMU have played 32 times. SMU leads the series, 18-14. SMU defeated the Hurricane, 3-1, in Tulsa back on Oct. 5. The Golden Hurricane has won 11 of the 14 meetings in the series since 2005 when both school joined C-USA. TU is 5-1 against the Mustangs in Dallas during that stretch.
