NEW ORLEANS - Tyler Henderson slammed 19 kills and hit .438 to lead the Tulsa volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-10, 26-24, 25-17) Conference USA road sweep of Tulane Saturday afternoon at Fogelman Arena.

The Golden Hurricane improved to 22-5 overall and 13-1 in C-USA play, while the Green Wave fell to 9-16 overall and 4-10 in league play. The teams play again Sunday at 1 p.m. Live stats and live video will be available at www.TulsaHurricane.com.

Kellie Culbertson tallied eight kills and hit .235, and had three service aces, 11 digs and five blocks. Carly Boatwright led TU with six blocks and three service aces. Diana Silva picked up seven kills and 10 digs and Miriele Gobbo contributed four blocks with three kills. Jordan Clampitt led the Hurricane with 22 assists and three digs, while Bailey Clampitt tallied 10 assists and four digs. Cori Martone led Tulane with 12 kills.

"I'm proud of our players. They continue to play well on the road," Tulsa Head Coach Steven McRoberts said. "I'm proud of our defensive effort, getting 10 blocks and holding them to .081 hitting. We still need to work on eliminating runs, as in the second set, but we held on to win. This time of year when you're trying to win a championship and make a run at the NCAA Tournament, winning in three sets is always big.

"Tyler stepped up and had 19 kills in three sets and hit over .400. A lot of players stepped up for us. The question is, if we can come back and play the type of game tomorrow that we did today. Hopefully we can come back and play refreshed tomorrow, and get a win. One more win here puts us really close to a championship."

Tulsa hit .286 as a team (43-13-105) with 43 kills, 36 assists, seven service aces, 46 digs and 10.0 blocks. Tulane hit .081 (29-21-99) with 29 kills, 27 assists, four aces, 47 digs and 7.0 blocks.

The Golden Hurricane hit .417 in the first set, led by Henderson's five kills. Boatwright served three aces, while Culbertson and Adams tallied five and four digs, respectively. TU converted 69 percent of its sideout opportunities and held Tulane to a -.114 attack percentage and a .028 sideout percentage. Adams served TU from a 3-3 tie to a 9-3 lead, and then the Hurricane turned a 10-7 advantage into a 25-10 runaway by outscoring the Wave, 15-3 at the end of the set. Boatwright served eight straight times, and Jordan Clampitt served a four-point spurt during the run to close the set.

Henderson recorded seven kills in the second frame, while Culbertson added four kills and Jordan Clampitt aided with eight assists. TU hit .265, while Tulane had a .143 attack percentage. Martone led Tulane with six kills in the set. Tulsa took a five-point lead at 17-12, and then held a 23-18 lead before the Green Wave made a 6-1 run to tie the score at 24-24. Henderson put away a kill and Culbertson and Boatwright teamed up on a block to end the set.
