Tulsa, Oklahoma - The University of Tulsa women's rowing team will kick off the 2011 season at the Oklahoma Invitational this Friday-Sunday, March 11-13, at the Exchange Boathouse on the Arkansas River in Oklahoma City, Okla.

The Golden Hurricane will be racing in the Novice 4+, Varsity 4+, Second Varsity 4+, Novice 8+, Varsity 8+ and Second Varsity 8+. TU will compete against Creighton and San Diego, as well as Conference USA teams Kansas, Oklahoma and SMU, throughout the three-day event.

"Our rowing team has been working really hard this winter toward this opening race," Tulsa Head Coach Kevin Harris said. "I think the women are confident and excited, but this will definitely be a tough test for our athletes. It is going to be a lot of fun and will contribute to our learning curve for championship season in May and June, and we can't wait to get out on the water and compete."
