TU Earns 5-2 Road Win Over No. 55 LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. - The University of Tulsa women's tennis team won its 10th-straight victory with a 5-2 triumph over LSU Friday afternoon at W.T. "Dub" Robinson Stadium.
The No. 23-ranked Golden Hurricane (15-2) have now defeated seven ranked teams this season after taking down the No. 55-ranked Tigers (7-7).
Junior Bonny Davidson and sophomore Michelle Farley started doubles action with an 8-4 victory over Ebie Wilson and Ariel Morton at No. 3.
TU secured the doubles point after the junior duo of Anastasia Erofeeva and Ewa Szatkowska defeated Keri Frankenberger and Yvette Vlaar 8-6 from the second position.
The senior duo of Alexandra Kichoutkin and Jo-Anne Karaitiana ended doubles play with an 8-5 win over Whitney Wolf and Kaitlin Burns from the top of the lineup.
The Tigers tied the match at 1-1 after Farley fell to Wilson 6-1, 6-0 from No. 3 singles, but TU regained its lead after Erofeeva dropped Burns 7-5, 6-4 from the second position.
LSU again drew even with Tulsa after Szatkowska was defeated 6-4, 6-3 by Frankenberger at No. 4, but Kichoutkin gave TU a 3-2 lead with a huge 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 victory over No. 56-ranked Wolf from the first position.
Freshman Sam Vickers posted a 6-4, 1-6, 7-5 victory from No. 5 singles over Vlaar to give the visiting Golden Hurricane the team victory.
Karaitiana added an extra point for TU with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 win over Morton from the bottom of the rotation as the visiting side won the last four points in the match.
The Golden Hurricane will return to action with a home meeting against Nebraska at 11 a.m. March 23.
