San Diego Crew Classic
The University of Tulsa women's rowing team returns to action this Saturday and Sunday, April 2-3, at the 38th Annual San Diego Crew Classic on Mission Bay in San Diego, Calif.
TU will compete in the Varsity 4+, Novice 8+, Varsity 8+ and Second Varsity 8+ against crews from Alabama, Oklahoma, San Diego, SMU, Stanford, UCLA and Washington State to name a few.
The Golden Hurricane Varsity 8+ captured a sixth-place finish last year at the Crew Classic, while the Varsity 4+ is coming off a great win over Harvard last weekend.
"The San Diego Crew Classic has been one of the favorites for early season racing among rowing teams," Head Coach Kevin Harris said. "It's a chance to go against top racing competition in a heat and final format to get an early gauge of speed. We are looking forward to competing with teams with the Pac-10 and the WCC, which are conferences we don't normally see. Additionally, a lot of C-USA teams will be there and being successful against our conference rivals early is always a good thing. Our team learned a lot last week against Harvard, and even though this is a tough turn around, they are ready and looking forward to the challenge."
