ORLANDO, Fla. - The top-seeded University of Tulsa women's tennis team advanced to the semifinals of the 2011 Conference USA Women's Tennis Championship with a 4-1 victory over No. 8 seed Tulane Friday afternoon at Lake Cane Tennis Center.

Tulsa (23-2) won its 18th-straight match to advance to the final four, and the Golden Hurricane will face No. 4 seed Rice at 11 a.m. April 23. The Green Wave ended its season at 11-11.

The No. 22-ranked Golden Hurricane won all three doubles matches and took three of the four singles contests that were completed.

The junior duo of Ewa Szatkowska and Anastasia Erofeeva started their tournament with an 8-2 victory over Lindsay Dvorak and Emma Helisten at the second position, and the senior tandem of Alexandra Kichoutkin and Jo-Anne Karaitiana gave Tulsa the 1-0 lead with an 8-4 triumph over Mariam Kurdadze and Emma Levy at the top of the lineup.

Junior Bonny Davidson and freshman Sam Vickers also picked up an 8-6 triumph over Elizabeth Hamlin and Hila Elster at the bottom of the order.

Szatkowska and Erofeeva moved to 20-1 in doubles action and won their 18th-consecutive match. Karaitiana and Kichoutkin are now 18-5 and have won 10 in a row.

Davidson and Vickers are on a five-match win streak.

Kichoutkin, the No. 108-ranked singles player in the nation, got Tulsa started strong in singles with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph at the top of the lineup over Kurdadze.

Vickers also picked up a 6-1, 6-2 victory from No. 5 singles over Helisten to push the TU lead to 3-0.

Tulane was able to get on the board when Levy defeated Erofeeva 7-5, 6-4 from the second position, but the top-seeded Golden Hurricane ended the match when sophomore Michelle Farley defeated Elster 7-5, 6-2 at No. 4.

Szatkowska and Dvorak were tied at 6-1, 6-7 (7-9), 1-1, and Karaitiana was leading Katherine Cecil 7-6 (7-3), 3-0.

The defending-champion Golden Hurricane is attempting to win its fourth C-USA crown in the last five years and will look to advance to the finals against fourth-seeded and No. 66-ranked Rice.
