Tulsa's Henderson Named to COBRA All-Preseason National Team

TULSA, Okla. - Tulsa volleyball junior Tyler Henderson was named a COBRA Magazine All-Preseason National Team First-Team selection and a Preseason National Player of the Year candidate.
Henderson, a native of Oklahoma City, averaged 6.23 kills per set and totaled 710 kills while hitting .348 last season on her way to earning AVCA Second-Team All-America and Conference USA Player of the Year honors. She led the NCAA in kills per set and points per set (6.67). Henderson broke NCAA - for the era of 25-point sets - C-USA and Tulsa records with her 710 kills and 6.23 kill-per-set average in 2010.
In two seasons with the Golden Hurricane, Henderson has totaled 1,264 kills (5.40 k/s), a .319 attack percentage and 113 blocks, compiling 1,347 (5.76 pts/s) and adding 205 digs. She has been a First-Team All-C-USA and First-Team AVCA Midwest Region selection in each of her first two seasons.
The purpose of COBRA Magazine is to celebrate the success of volleyball players of African descent in hopes of encouraging black girls to pursue the sport.
The Golden Hurricane opens the 2011 volleyball season Aug. 26-27 at the Florida State Invitational. TU will play host to its annual tournament when it holds the Hurricane Invitational Sept. 2-3 at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
