TULSA, Okla. - The University of Tulsa volleyball team was picked to repeat as Conference USA Champions, and junior outside hitter Tyler Henderson was tabbed as the Preseason C-USA Player of the Year in a vote by the league's coaches, the conference office announced Thursday.

Henderson was joined on the C-USA Preseason Team by junior libero Jessica Adams. The Golden Hurricane received 10 first-place votes, as it was predicted to finish atop the league for the second straight season.

Henderson, the 2010 C-USA Player of the Year, led the NCAA last season with 6.23 kills per set and 6.67 points per set. She set a modern NCAA record (in the 25-point set era) with her averages as well as totaling 710 kills for the season. Clampitt, the 2010 C-USA Setter of the Year, led the NCAA with 13.09 assists per set, and totaled a school-record 1,492 assists.

Adams, a 2010 C-USA Second-Team selection, totaled 530 digs (4.65 dig/s) and led TU with 46 service aces. She has twice been honored as an AVCA Midwest Region Honorable Mention, and C-USA Second-Team selection.

Tulsa finished the 2010 C-USA schedule with a 20-0 record, and has won 22 straight C-USA matches dating back to 2009. The Hurricane returns four starters this season, plus Adams at libero.

TU was one of four schools to place two players on the 12-member preseason all-conference team, along with SMU, Houston and Southern Miss. SMU, which was picked to finish second, and Houston, tabbed at third place, each received one first-place vote.

Tulsa opens the 2011 season at the Florida State Invitational, Aug. 26-27, where it will face Albany, Kentucky and Florida State. The Golden Hurricane will open at home with the Park Inn Hurricane Invitational Sept. 2-3 at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. TU's home tournament features UT Arlington, North Dakota State Arkansas-Pine Bluff and UC Davis.

The Hurricane also travels to the Middle Tennessee Invitational where it will face Cal Poly, Middle Tennessee State and Illinois. The Final pre-conference tournament will be the Tar Heel Classic with North Carolina, Saint Louis and Miami (Ohio). The Golden Hurricane opens C-USA play at UTEP on Sept. 23. The C-USA home opener is Sept. 30 against Houston.
