MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Tyler Henderson led the way with 25 kills as the Tulsa volleyball team pulled out a 3-2 (16-25, 25-16, 22-25, 25-21, 15-9) road win at Middle Tennessee State in the MTSU Invitational at Alumni Memorial Gym.

The Golden Hurricane (6-3) committed just three errors over the final two sets to put away the host Blue Raiders (2-5). Henderson hit .435 to lead the offensive attack and added three blocks.

"I told the team, whoever makes the fewest errors will win the match," Tulsa Head Coach Steven McRoberts said of his team's low number of errors over sets four and five. "Our seven aces helped keep us in a rhythm. We served aggressively for the most part. We blocked well. It won't show up that we blocked a lot of balls, but we touched a lot at the net. It was a good win for us this year, and good to get it at their place."

Freshman Carly Boatwright hit .462 with seven kills and three blocks, sophomore Kellie Culbertson had a double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs, and junior Diana Silva had 12 kills.

Junior libero Jessica Adams led TU with 14 digs, while junior Jordan Clampitt tallied 33 assists and six digs, and freshman Bailey Clampitt recorded 19 digs.

TU hit .248 as a team (62-25-149) with 65 kills, 61 assists, seven service aces, 36 digs and 8.0 blocks. MTSU hit .260 (56-24-123) with 56 kills, 52 assists, two aces, 51 digs and 12.0 blocks.

Illinois 3, Tulsa 2

Tulsa took the first two sets against No. 4 Illinois, but could not hang on, as the Illini won a thriller, 3-2 (25-20, 25-20, 24-26, 18-25, 11-15), Saturday night in the Middle Tennessee Invitational at Alumni Memorial Gym.
