Oxford, Miss. - The Tulsa women's golf team is in fourth place with an opening round 302 at the BancorpSouth Rebel Intercollegiate on Friday. Tulsa's Shu Yin Liu, who's score does not count in the team scoring because she's playing as an individual, is also in fourth place with a one-over par 73.
Baylor and host Mississippi lead the 15-team field at the par-72 Ole Miss Golf Course with four-over par 292 scores. Missouri is next at 298, followed by Tulsa's 303 and Southern Miss rounds out the top-5 teams with a score of 303.
Junior Kristina Merkle and senior Marita Engzelius scored rounds of three-over par 75 to tie for 19th place, while senior Sarah Elliot and freshman Anna Young are tied or 28th place with rounds of 76 today. Junior Kayla Riede scored a round of 78 to tie for 45th place.
Tulsa senior Kamryn Ruffin, also playing as an individual, finished the first round in 55th place with a score of 79.
Second round play will take place on Saturday with 18 holes.
