No. 23 Tulsa Defeats Kansas, 5-2

LAWRENCE, Kan. -
Led by stellar play by Samantha Vickers and Isaura Enrique, the No. 23-ranked Tulsa women’s tennis team took down Kansas, 5-2, on Sunday at the Jayhawk Tennis Center.
The Golden Hurricane improved to 6-2 on the season while handing the Jayhawks their first loss of the season.
The Tulsa tandem of Vickers and Enrique, ranked No. 9 in the nation, dispatched Maria Jose Cardona and Dylan Windom at No. 1 doubles by the count of 8-0. At No. 3 doubles, Maria Sant’Anna and Renata Kuricova defeated Maria Belen Ludeuna and Paulina Los, 8-5, and Michelle Farley and Saana Saarteinen squeked past Anastasija Trubica and Haley Fournier 8-7.
At No.1 singles, Vickers, ranked No. 124, defeated Maria Jose Cardona 6-1, 6-1, and Isaura Enrique took down Maria Belen Luduena, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 2 singles to give TU a 3-0 lead.
Farley sealed the TU victory with a 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 3 singles against Paulina Los, while Saarteinen gave TU its fifth point of the afternoon with a 2-6, 6-0, 6-1 win over Claire Dreyer at No. 5 singles.
The Golden Hurricane will face in-state rival Oklahoma on Saturday, February 16, in a noon tilt in Norman, Okla.
