TU Women's Tennis Defeats BYU 7-0 Saturday

TULSA, Okla. - The University of Tulsa women's tennis started the team competition with a 7-0 win over BYU on Saturday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
The Golden Hurricane won the doubles point after a hard fought battle. Samantha Vickers/Isaura Enrique defeated Megan Sheehan-Dizon 6-2, but the other two doubles came down to the wire. Renata Kuricova/Yelena Nemchen defeated Morgan Anderson/Toby Miclat 7-5 after trailing 5-4.
TU's doubles team of Maria Sant'Anna/Rongrong Leenabanchong and BYU's doubles team of Mayci Jones/Nicolette Tran was tied at six apiece with the tie-breaker tied at one.
Freshman Marcelina Cichon won the first singles match for the Golden Hurricane defeating Savannah Ware 6-4, 6-2 and was followed by an Isaura Enrique's 6-3, 6-0 win over Megan Sheehan-Dizon.
No. 48 Samantha Vickers clinched the match with the fourth point with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Mayci Jones. Vickers is riding on an eight-match winning streak.
After dropping the first set 7-5, Saana Saarteinen won the final two sets 6-2 and 10-4 in the tie-breaker set, followed by Maria Sant'Anna's 6-4, 6-3 win.
Maria Sant'Anna defeated Morgan Anderson 6-4, 6-3, while No. 47 Yelena Nemchen finished the match with a 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (7) over Nicolette Tran.
The Golden Hurricane faces Oral Roberts at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
