HOUSTON, Texas - The University of Tulsa volleyball team earned the season sweep over the Houston Cougars (11-12, 3-8) with a four-set victory (25-21, 25-21, 22-25, 25-21) Friday night on the road, as Erica Bohannon finished the night with 21 kills, while Brooke Berryhill tallied 21 digs, as the Golden Hurricane move to 14-8, 6-5 AAC on the season.

Senior Valerie El Houssine recorded her 11th double-double of the season, as she recorded 15 kills and 16 digs, while Bailey Clampitt recorded 46 assists, her 10th 40-plus assist match of the season.

The American Athletic Conference kill leader Kadi Kullerkann led the Cougars offensively, with 25 kills on 60 attacks in the loss.

Through the first four points of the match, TU took an early 3-1 lead, however, the home side was able to counter and stormed out to a 13-7 advantage. Houston was able to hold on to the lead, going ahead 16-11, but that was the turning point in the set for the Hurricane.

Tulsa proceeded to go on a 10-2 run, before closing out the opening frame and taking a 1-0 lead in the match.

The second set was controlled by Tulsa, who saw itself behind in the early stages at 3-2, but ran off three-straight points and did not relinquish the lead the rest of the way. Houston was able to keep its deficit under control at first, trailing 10-7, but TU began to pull away and ballooned its lead to 19-13. The Cougars made a push for a comeback, but Bohannon put the Hurricane ahead 2-0 at halftime with a set-clinching kill.

After Houston stole the third set to extend the match, the Cougars gathered its momentum and used it to take a quick 5-1 lead early in the fourth. Tulsa was able to battle back to even the match at 10-10 before taking the lead for good.

Tulsa opened up its largest lead of the frame at 15-11, but Houston fought back after a 3-0 run to cut its deficit to one. That would be the closest the Cougars would get, as Bohannon used her second set-winning kill to give Tulsa the match and momentum going into Sunday.

The Hurricane will travel to Tulane to take on the Green Wave at 1:00 p.m.
