TULSA, Okla. - The University of Tulsa volleyball has signed Emily Thorson to a national letter of intent, as announced by Head Volleyball Coach Ryan Wills.

"We are excited to add Emily to the program next year," said Wills. "She is a competitive person that comes from a competitive volleyball family. Emily has been able to watch her sister, who currently plays volleyball at The University Virginia, go through the recruiting process and her freshman year at UVA. This observation will allow Emily to be more prepared as a freshman to compete at a high level."

Thorson is a 6'2" outside hitter from College Park High School in The Woodlands, Texas. Outside of varsity volleyball for her high school, Thorson also competes on the Willowbrook Volleyball Club.

"Emily is a 6'2 outside hitter that has played six rotations on both her club team and high school team," said Wills. "As she keeps developing, her size and versatility will help her compete early on in her career."

In her four seasons at College Park High School, Thorson accumulated 1122 kills (3.0 kills/set), 142 blocks (0.4 blocks/set), and 1060 digs (2.9 digs/set). She also totaled 95 service aces in her four-year career.

"During the recruiting process, we enjoyed watching her improvements," Wills said. "She has some of the best location control when attacking that you see for her age. This is something that you don't normally see for someone that has the height and physicality she has. We are excited to see the progress she will make as a ball control player for Tulsa."
