Sant'Anna and Nemchen Earn Central Region ITA Accolades

SKILLMAN, N.J. - Senior Maria Sant'Anna and freshman Yelena Nemchen of the University of Tulsa women's tennis team earned International Tennis Association Central Region Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award and Player to Watch, respectively.
Sant'Anna, who was named to the All-Conference USA Singles Second Team, has posted a 22-13 singles record this season, including a 10-7 record in dual competition and has posted a 62-32 career singles record. She ended the season winning six of her last seven matches, including winning all of her three singles matches at the Conference USA Championships.
The Sao Paulo, Brazil native has recorded a 22-10 doubles record, including a 10-7 record in dual competition and has posted a 58-28 career doubles record.
The Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award recognizes outstanding individuals who have exhibited outstanding sportsmanship and leadership as well as scholastic, extracurricular and tennis achievements.
Nemchen, who has been ranked as high as No. 46 this season, a 16-10 record this season, including an 8-8 record in dual competition. She has posted an 8-2 record at the No. 3 singles position.
The Karaganda, Kazakhstan native has recorded a 9-2 doubles record, including a 4-1 record in dual competition. Nemchen and sophomore Renata Kuricova paired up to go 7-1, including a 4-1 record in dual competition.
