Women's Tennis Travels to TCU; North Texas

TULSA, Okla. - The No. 59 women's tennis team is set to travel south to take on the No. 17 TCU Horned Frogs on Saturday at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Sunday match against the North Texas Mean Green at 1:00 p.m.
The Golden Hurricane enter the weekend with an 8-5 record, and most recently took two of its three matches a week ago at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. TU dropped its opener against No. 13 Oklahoma State, 4-3, before sweeping both Stephen F. Austin (7-0) and Oral Roberts (7-0).
Tulsa's Renata Kuricova and Ksenia Laskutova broke into the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's doubles poll, ranking number 47 in the nation this week. The duo is coming off of dominating performances in recent weeks, winning its last three matches, including a convincing, 6-2, win over the then No. 3 Viktoriya Lushkova and Kelsey Laurente of Oklahoma State.
Tulsa's first match of the weekend will be against a 5-5 Horned Frogs team, who has played against some of the nation's best. TCU has played four top-10 programs this season, with its only win coming against the then No. 4 Duke Blue Devils. The Horned Frogs ended its four-match losing skid last weekend in Fort Worth, Texas, beating The American's South Florida, 5-2.
The Golden Hurricane last took on TCU in the 2009 NCAA Championships First Round, where the Horned Frogs got the better of TU, 4-1, in Fayetteville, Ark.
North Texas has gotten off to a slow start in 2015, posting a 3-7 record through its first 10 matches. The Mean Green picked up an upset win over No. 74 Louisville, 4-3, last weekend. Before that win, UNT won just one of its previous five matches.
TU and the Mean Green met last season as conference rivals in Conference USA, at the Case Center. The Hurricane topped UNT, 4-2, for its first conference win of the season.
