Women's Tennis Coasts Past South Florida, 6-1

TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tulsa women's tennis team earned a 6-1 road win against the USF Bulls, to finish off its Florida road trip with a 2-0 record, Friday afternoon at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.
The Golden Hurricane were the leaders after the round of doubles matches, taking the No. 1 and No. 3 spots. Mahitha Dadireddy and Saana Saarteinen were the first pair to win, topping Olga Martinez and Vera Bessonova, 6-2, from the No. 3 spot. The number 63-ranked Ksenia Laskutova and Renata Kuricova clinched the Hurricane doubles point, after a 6-4 win over Jessica Cortes Chaves and Hailey Grillo.
Singles play was dominated early on, as all six TU spots took the first set off of the Bulls. Rongrong Leenabanchong was the first to finish, after she topped Chaves, 6-2, 6-2, from the second singles position. Yelena Nemchen followed suit after taking down Martinez, 6-3, 6-4, from the four position.
Saarteinen clinched the match when she took a straight-set sweep from Juliana Cardoso, 6-3, 6-4, from the five spot, for Tulsa's fourth-straight point. Marcelina Cichon kept the rout going, picking up the 7-5, 6-3, win over USF's Bessonova from the number three spot.
The number six position was taken in three sets by Kuricova, 6-0, 4-6, 6-2, before the last match of the day was taken by USF from the number one match.
The Hurricane will return home on Tuesday, where they will take on the Razorbacks of Arkansas at 4:00 p.m. at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
