Tulsa Country Club, who along with The University of Tulsa hosted the 2014 NCAA Division Women's Golf Championships, is getting ready to host another major golf event.

The U.S. Girls' Junior Golf Championship comes to the city of Tulsa and TCC, Monday-Saturday, July 20-25. The event is FREE to the public. Stroke play competition will take place Monday and Tuesday when there will be a cut to the top-64 players to participate in match play.

The University of Tulsa boasts seven of the school's former golfers who won championships at the U.S. Girls Junior. These seven golfers claimed either the match play title or were stroke play medalists, beginning with Nancy Lopez's stroke play victory in 1972.

Lopez went on to win another stroke play title in 1974, while defeating another future TU golfer Lauren Howe. Dayne Benson (1975), Lori Castillo (1978) and Cathy Mockett (1984) also won stroke-play titles.  Lopez (1973), Carolyn Hill (1974), Howe (1975), Melissa McNamara (1983, 1983) and Mockett (1984) were the stroke play medalists.

In addition, current TU women's golf coach Emilee Klein-Gille won both the stroke play and match play titles in 1991.
