
Tulsa Women’s Tennis Falls To No. 5-Ranked North Carolina To Conclude ITA Kick-Off Weekend

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa women's tennis team lost to No. 5-ranked North Carolina in a 4-0 decision Saturday afternoon in the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center to conclude the 2016 ITA Kick-Off Weekend. The No. 48-ranked Golden Hurricane, 5-1 overall, posted a 1-1 record over the weekend after defeating Marshall Friday afternoon.
The event included 60 teams nationally at 15 different sites, and will determine this year's qualifiers for the ITA National Team Indoor Championships to be held Feb. 5-8 in Madison, Wis.
TU's No. 46-ranked doubles pair Martha Matoula and Rongrong Leenabanchong defeated No. 16-ranked doubles pair Kate Vialle and Jessie Aney. North Carolina went on to win the other two doubles matches to earn a 1-0 advantage. In singles play, the Tar Heels went on to win the first three singles matches to pick up a 4-0 win. There were two singles matches did not finish play.
