
Tulsa’s No. 34-Ranked Women’s Tennis Dominates UCF, 6-1, Sunday

Tulsa, Okla. – The University of Tulsa women's tennis team opened the American Athletic Conference portion of their schedule defeating UCF, 6-1, Sunday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. The No. 34-ranked Golden Hurricane dominated doubles play winning all three matches before going on to win five of the six singles matches played.
The Hurricane extends its win streak to five matches improving to an overall 10-1 record, while UCF falls to 3-3 overall.
Tulsa's three registered doubles wins started with Ksenia Laskutova and Renata Kuricova (No. 1) defeating Sofia Baptista and Natalia Serrano in a 6-1 decision to take a 1-0 doubles match lead. TU's No. 55-ranked doubles pair Rongrong Leenbanchong and Martha Matoula (No. 2) defeated Emilia Granstrom and Caroline Eberhant in a 6-3 decision, which was enough to clinch the doubles point. Saana Saarteinen and Mahitha Dadireddy (No. 3) went on to defeat Cortney Cesarini and Monica Matias, 6-4, giving the Hurricane a 1-0 match lead and momentum going into singles play.
Similar to doubles play, Tulsa dominated singles play winning five out of the six matches played. The Hurricane has compiled an impressive 39-5 record in singles since beginning dual play, and it has three players that are undefeated in singles. Marcelina Chichon improved her overall record in singles dual play to 9-0 and extended her win streak to 14 matches. Leenbanchong's win over Emila Granstrom, 7-5, 6-1, improved her overall record in singles dual play to 5-0 and extended her win streak to five matches. Kuricova defeated Natalia Serrano, 7-5 (7-3), 6-1, which strengthened her overall record in singles dual play to 6-1 overall.
