Tulsa Men’s Tennis Falls to No. 15 Southern Cal Saturday Afternoon

TULSA, Okla. – On Saturday afternoon, The University of Tulsa men's tennis team lost to No. 15 Southern California in a 7-0 decision at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. The No. 26-ranked Golden Hurricane falls to an overall 7-7 record, while the Trojans improve to 8-3 overall.

Max de Vroome and Jake DeVine (No. 2) defeated TU's Juan Matias Gonzalez and Or Ram-Harel, 6-2, to take a 1-0 lead for the doubles point. USC's No. 74-ranked doubles team Nick Crystal and Lauren Verboven (No. 1) clinched the doubles point defeating Dylan McCloskey and Matthew Kirby, 6-2, to give the Trojans a 1-0 match lead going into singles. TU's Dominic Bechard and Carlos Bautista (No. 3) were up 5-4 against Jack Jaede and Tanner Smith before play was stopped.

The Trojans found their rhythm in singles as No. 35 Nick Crystal (No. 2) defeated Carlos Bautista, 6-0, 6-2, to take a 2-0 match lead. USC's Laurens Verboven (No. 6) defeated Dominic Bechard, 6-3, 6-4, to extend the match lead to 3-0. The nation's No. 32 singles player Max de Vroome (No. 1) defeated No. 39 Or Ram-Harel, 7-6, 6-1, to clinch the Trojan match victory. The pattern would continue for the final three matches as No. 113 Jake DeVine (No. 3) defeated Juan Matias Gonzalez in a 6-2, 1-6, 6-4 thriller to extend the match lead to 5-0. USC's No. 91 Thibault Forget (No. 5) defeated Majed Kilani, 4-6, 6-0, 10-7, before No. 40 Logan Smith defeated Dylan McCloskey, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 to put the final match score at 7-0.
