Tulsa’s No. 21-Ranked Women’s Tennis Team Storms Past In-State Rival Oklahoma, 4-0, Wednesday Night

Tulsa, Okla. – The University of Tulsa women's tennis team defeated in-state rival Oklahoma, 4-0, Wednesday night at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. This is the eighth time that the No. 21 Golden Hurricane has won 4-0 this season.
The Hurricane improves to 13-2 overall, while the Sooners fall to 5-6 overall.
Oklahoma's Zita Engbroks and Christiana Brigante (No. 3) defeated Saana Saarteinen and Mahitha Dadireddy in a 6-2 decision to take an early 1-0 doubles match lead. Tulsa's nationally ranked No. 79 doubles team Rongrong Leenabanchong and Martha Matoula (No.2) defeated Emma Devine and Mimi Fotopoulos, 6-2, to tie the double match at 1-1. Ksenia Laskutova and Renata Kuricova (No. 1) defeated OU's Lily Miyazaki and Simran Sethi in a 7-5 thriller to clinch the doubles point to give TU a 1-0 match lead going into singles play.
Tulsa dominated singles play as Ksenia Laskutova (No. 2) defeated OU's No. 84 nationally ranked singles player Emma Devine, 6-1, 6-3, to give TU a 2-0 match lead. Rongrong Leenabanchong (No. 3) defeated Christiana Brigante in a 6-4, 6-3 decision to extend the Tulsa match lead to 3-0. Renata Kuricova (No. 5) defeated Simran Sethi, 6-2, 7-5, to clinch the Tulsa 4-0 match victory.
