Tulsa’s Nadia Majidizadeh is First Round Leader at the Ole Miss Rebel Intercollegiate
4/1/2016 9:47:00 PM | Women's Golf
Tulsa junior Nadia Majidizadeh sits in a five-way tie for first place after opening round action Friday at the Rebel Intercollegiate on the Ole Miss Golf Course, while the Golden Hurricane women are in 10th place overall.
Majidizadeh, from Tulsa's Union High School, carded a one-under par 71 on what was a pretty clean scorecard. She birdied the par-5 second hole, and then went back even with a bogey on the par-4 sixth hole. Majidizadeh played even the rest of the way until a birdie on the par-5 15th hole put her at one-under par and she stayed there with pars on her final three holes.
As a team, the Hurricane turned in a 21-over par 309 score and sits just six strokes behind third-place and 12 strokes off first-round leader Troy (297).
Tulsa freshman Mackenzie Medders, another local product from Jenks High School, turned in a two-over par 74 and sits in 12th place after the first 18 holes. Senior Antonia Von Wnuck carded a score of 80 for 61st place, while fellow senior Alex Haun is in 79th place with a score of 84 and freshman Olivia Jackson is one stroke back with 85 for 85th place.
The Hurricane also had three players competing as individuals, where their scores do not count in the team scoring. Nikki Marquardt is in 31st place with a score of 77, followed by Johanna Samuelsson's 79 for 53rd place and Brydie Hodge in in 79th place after a round of 84.
Second round action takes place on Saturday with tee times beginning at 8:51 a.m., and the final 18 holes will be played on Sunday.
