No. 24 Tulsa Men’s Tennis Defeats UCF, 7-0, To Conclude Regular Season

TULSA, Okla. – In the final scheduled match of the regular season, The University of Tulsa men's tennis team defeated American Athletic Conference foe UCF, 7-0, Sunday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. The No. 24 Golden Hurricane finished the 2016 regular season with an overall 15-12 record.
 
Tulsa dominated doubles play as freshman Dominic Bechard and senior Dylan McCloskey (No. 2) blanked Reece Acree and Tyler Pate in a 6-0 decision. Senior Matthew Kirby and freshman Okkie Kellerman (No. 1) clinched the doubles point when they defeated Chris Barrus and Inaki Espindola, 6-2, to give the Hurricane a 1-0 match lead going into singles play.
 
TU carried the momentum into singles play as senior Carlos Bautista (No. 4) defeated Mariano Porter, 6-3, 6-1, to extend the match lead to 2-0. Sophomore Juan Matias Gonzalez (No. 2) defeated Chris Barrus, 6-4, 6-1, to lengthen the Tulsa match lead to 3-0. Junior Daniel Santos clinched the TU match victory when he defeated Reece Acree, 2-6, 6-1, 6-2. Junior Or Ram-Harel (No. 1) defeated Inaki Espindola, 6-4, 7-5, before freshman Majed Kilani (No. 3) defeated Jose Sangroniz, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1, to bring the match score to 6-0. The Hurricane completed the 7-0 shutout when senior Dylan McCloskey (No. 5) defeated Nicolo De Fraia, 6-3, 7-8, 7-6.
 
The Hurricane will be back in action on April 21-25, when it travels to Memphis, Tenn., to compete in the American Athletic Conference Championship.
