
Tulsa Men’s Tennis Team Falls to No. 11 Texas Tech, 5-2, Friday Afternoon

LUBBOCK, Texas – On Friday afternoon, The University of Tulsa men's tennis team lost to No. 11 Texas Tech in a 4-1 decision at the McLeod Tennis Center in Lubbock, Texas. The No. 18 Golden Hurricane falls to 14-10 overall, while the Red Raiders improve to 23-3 overall.
In doubles play, Connor Curry and Felipe Soares defeated Dominic Bechard and Dylan McCloskey, 6-1, to take a 1-0 doubles point lead. TU battled back to tie the doubles point at 1-1 as No. 77 Matthew Kirby and Okkie Kellerman defeated Alex Sendegeya and Bjorn Thomson in a 6-3 decision. With the doubles point on the line, Carlos DiLaura teamed up with Hugo Dojas to defeat Carlos Bautista and Majed Kilani, 7-5, to take a 1-0 match lead going into singles play.
To begin singles play, Bjorn Thomson (No. 6) defeated Daniel Santos, 6-2, 6-1, to give Texas Tech a 2-0 match advantage. Texas Tech's No. 117 singles player Alex Sendegeya (No. 3) defeated Carlos Bautista, 7-6, 6-3, to extend the Red Raider lead to 3-0. TU's Majed Kilani (No. 4) defeated Jolan Caileau, 7-5, 7-5, to bring the match score to 3-1. Connor Curry (No. 5) went on to defeat Francois Kellerman, 6-2, 7-6, to clinch the Texas Tech match victory. The Red Raiders' No. 20 singles player Felipe Soares (No. 1) went on to defeat No. 46 Or Ram-Harel, 7-6, 6-3, 0-1 (10-7), to put the match score at 5-1. Juan Matias Gonzalez defeated Texas Tech's No. 98 singles player Hugo Dojas, 6-7, 6-3, 2-1 (10-7), to make the final match score 5-2.
The Hurricane travels to Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Sunday, April 10, to take on New Mexico at the McKinnon Family Tennis Stadium.
