
Tulsa Women’s Tennis Falls to In-State Rival and 12th Ranked Oklahoma State, 4-0, in Second Round of NCAA Tennis Championships

STILLWATER, Okla. – The University of Tulsa women's tennis team fell to in-state rival and 12th ranked Oklahoma State in a 4-0 decision in the second round of the NCAA Tennis Championships Saturday afternoon at the Greenwood Tennis Center of the campus of Oklahoma State University. The 28th ranked Golden Hurricane concluded the 2016 campaign with an impressive overall 22-5 record.
In doubles play, Oklahoma State clinched the doubles point with wins in the last two flights. The Cowboys 79th ranked doubles team of Katarina Adamovic and Vladica Babic (No. 3) picked up the first doubles match victory with a 6-2 win over senior Saana Saarteinen and junior Mahitha Dadireddy. The nation's 54th ranked doubles team of Viktoriya Lushkova and Carla Tur Mari (No. 2) registered a 6-3 win over freshman Martha Matoula and junior Rongrong Leenabanchong to clinch the doubles point giving Oklahoma State a 1-0 match lead going into singles play
The Cowboys carried the momentum into singles play as Kelsey Laurente (No. 4) topped junior Marcelina Cichon, 6-0, 6-1, to extend the match lead to 2-0. Oklahoma State won back-to-back singles matches to clinch the match victory as 66th ranked Viktoriya Lushkova (No. 3) defeated Rongrong Leenabanchong, 6-0, 6-4, before 47th ranked Katarina Adamovic (No. 1) outlasted TU's 86th ranked singles player senior Saana Saarteinen, 7-5, 6-3.
Tulsa's Saana Saarteinen will compete at the NCAA Singles Championships on her home court as Tulsa hosts the NCAA Division I Men's & Women's Tennis Championships, May 19-30, at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
