LAWRENCE, Kan. – Tulsa women's tennis was in action on Saturday, as Martina Okalova defeated the No. 1 seed, Ana Oparenovic, to advance. Okalova will play in the quarterfinals of the ITA Regionals on Sunday, Oct. 22.
In singles play, the No. 15 seed Martina Okalova faced the No. 1 seed Ana Oparenovic of Arkansas, in the round of 16 at the ITA Regionals. In the first set, Okalova was unfazed by the No. 1 seed, as she took the first set, 6-3. Okalova took the momentum from the first set and won the second set, 6-4.
In doubles action, the No. 8 seed Tulsa tandem of Ksenia Laskutova and Martha Matoula battled the Kansas duo of Tatiana Nikolaeva and Despoina Vogasari. The Kansas pair won the match, 8-4.
The Golden Hurricane returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 22, as Okalova will play in the ITA Regionals' quarterfinals. Okalova will take on Marina Guinart of OSU. The match is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
