Hurricane Fall on the Road to #9 North Carolina 4-1

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of Tulsa Men's Tennis team fell to a top-10 ranked opponent on the road in No. 9-ranked North Carolina 4-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. Sophomore Dominic Bechard moved to 3-3 on the year in singles play against ranked opponents as he picked up a singles win over No. 54-ranked Robert Kelly for Tulsa (10-12).

North Carolina won the doubles point to go ahead 1-0 heading into singles play with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. Tulsa's No. 54-ranked doubles pairing of Majed Kilani and Ram-Harel fell to a top-20 opponent in No. 16-ranked William Blumberg/Robert Kelly 6-4 while Bechard/Okkie Kellerman were defeated 6-4 by Jack Murray/Simon Soendergaard.

Ram-Harel went up against another ranked opponent in the No. 1 singles match that pitted Tulsa's #25 senior against #19 Ronnie Schneider, with Schneider coming out ahead 6-2, 6-1 as UNC went up 2-0.

Bechard's straight sets win at the No. 4 singles spot kept the match alive at 3-1 as he controlled the first set 6-2 against the ranked Kelley on his way to taking the set 7-5.

UNC secured the final point needed at the No. 6 spot as Blaine Boyden defeated TU's Mitchell Pritchard 6-4, 6-1.

The Hurricane will return to the Michael D. Case Tennis Center for the first time in over three weeks as they are set to face Texas Tech on March 31 at 5 p.m.
