TULSA, Okla. — The University of Tulsa men's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 41 Texas Tech on Friday evening at the Case Tennis Center.
The Golden Hurricane (10-13) returned to their home courts after six matches on the road, but could not secure the doubles point against the Red Raiders (9-10) despite a trio of close contests.
Tulsa took the first doubles match as Dominic Bechard and Okkie Kellerman bested Jolan Cailleau and Carlos DiLaura, 6-4. However, the Red Raiders took the next two contests by scores of 6-4 for the point. Jackson Cobb and Alex Sendegeya topped Jarod Hing and Daniel Santos before the 24th-ranked duo of Connor Curry and Bjorn Thomson topped the 54th-ranked Tulsa combo of Or Ram-Harel and Majed Kilani 6-4.
In singles play, No. 25 Ram-Harel took the first set against No. 42 Cailleau, 7-5, and led the second set 5-3 before the match was called. Kilani also led a ranked foe, No. 60 Thomson, with a first-set victory of 7-6 and a 3-1 tally in the second until play was halted.
Curry took the third singles match in straight sets with a pair of 6-4 wins. Sendegeya and Cobb then ended the contest with close 7-6 victories in the second set against Bechard and Pritchard, respectively.
The Golden Hurricane will return to the Case Tennis Center courts for a 1 p.m. matchup against Baylor (18-3) on Sunday, April 2.
