Tulsa Opened Season at ITF 25K

STILLWATER, Okla. – The Tulsa women's tennis team sent seven members to the ITF 25K, which started on Sunday. Tamara Kupkova picked up the first win of her career.

Tamara Kupkova defeated fellow Golden Hurricane, Vera Ploner in three sets. Kupkova won the first set, 6-3, but Ploner won the second set, 6-3. Kupkova took the final set, 6-2.

Martha Matoula faced Kana Daniel, who is a professional on the Pro Circuit, in three sets. After losing the first set, 6-0, Matoula bounced back and took the second set, 7-6. Daniel won the third set, 6-1.

Shura Poppe lost her match to Kerrie Cartwright, who is a professional on the Pro Circuit, in straight sets, 6-3 and 6-4.

Martina Okalova was defeated by Arianne Hartono of Ole Miss, 6-4 and 6-2.

Alexandrina Chinikova was knocked off by Ellizaveta Buss in straight sets, 6-3 and 6-0.

Ksenia Laskutova will see her first action tomorrow on day two of the ITF 25K.
