TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa volleyball junior DS/L Taylor Horsfall earned the American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week award, the conference has announced on Monday.

The honor marks the fourth time in her illustrious career she's been recognized as the best weekly defensive player in the conference.

Horsfall racked up 66 digs in two matches this past weekend, with both matches going five sets, for a 6.60 digs per set mark. In Tulsa's defeat of North Texas, Horsfall tallied a season-high 39 digs, while Saturday's victory over Wichita State resulted in another 27 digs in the win.

The win against Wichita State was Tulsa's first since 1998, and snapped the Shockers' 22-0 conference record since joining the American in 2017. Wichita State also had a streak of 29-straight conference wins, dating to its time in the Missouri Valley Conference, spoiled by Tulsa on Saturday night.

Horsfall's defensive efforts have landed her No. 5 TU all-time in digs, accumulating 1,367 in her career with the Golden Hurricane. Also, Horsfall currently ranks fourth in the NCAA in digs per set, averaging a lofty 5.92 mark.

As a team, Tulsa ranks third in the American, boasting an 11-4, 3-0 record thus far in 2018. The team maintains a perfect 7-0 home record when playing in the Donald W. Reynolds Center this season.

Up next, head coach Ryan Wills' bunch travels to Florida for two conference matchups with UCF (12-3, 3-0) on Friday, Oct. 5 and USF (13-3, 2-1) on Sunday, Oct. 7.
