Tulsa’s Zaven Collins Named to USA Today Freshman All-America Football Team

TULSA, Okla. –– The University of Tulsa red-shirt freshman linebacker Zaven Collins was selected to the USA Today Freshman All-America team, it was announced this week.
Collins, who stands 6'4", 250-pounds, moved into the starting lineup in the third game of the season and ended the year second on the team in tackles, while leading the Golden Hurricane in tackles for lost yards.
The Hominy, Oklahoma native, was credited with 85 tackles and 9.5 stops for -31 yards. He also totaled three quarterback pressures, three pass breakups and had one each of a forced fumble, fumble recovery and blocked kick. Collins had five double-figure tackle games, including a season-high of 14 stops at Arkansas. He also had 12 tackles against Memphis, Tulane, Arkansas State and 11 stops against #23 USF.
