TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa men's tennis team (6-7) collected five singles matches as well as the doubles point, as it defeated Oral Roberts (3-3), 6-1, at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center Thursday night.

Jarod Hing and Boriss Kamdem picked up the first doubles win for TU, as they defeated Alvaro Santamaria and Eddy Leardinin, 7-5, at the No. 3 doubles position. In the No. 2 doubles match, Louis Corker and Mitchell Pritchard knocked off Marcello Moreira and Andrew Guymon, 6-4. The Hurricane took a 1-0 lead into singles play.

Pritchard took the opening stanza of the No. 5 singles match, 6-1, after he managed to break Leardini twince. In the second set, Prichard was able to break Leardini's serve three times on the way to a 6-1 victory. Pritchard's match win put Tulsa on top of ORU, 2-0.

At the No. 6 position, Kamdem broke Scott Hjelm's serve three different times on the way to a 6-0 opening set victory. Hjelm jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but Kamdem stormed back and took the second set, 6-3, after he broke Hjelm's service three more times. Kamdem extended the Hurricane lead to 3-0.

Hing squared off with Jan Pehnec in the No. 2 sinlges match. Hing managed to break Pehnec's serve in the seventh game and took a 4-3 lead. After Hing took a game on serve, he broke Pehnec for a second time and claimed the first set victory, 6-3. After Pehnec opened the second on a 2-0 lead, Hing showed resilience as he battled back and won the second, 6-4. Hing's victory clinched the victory for TU and extended the Tulsa lead to 4-0.

In the No. 3 singles match, Lucca Baptista ran away with the first set, 6-1, after he broke Santamaria's serve on three occasions. In the first three games of the second set, each player managed to break the other's serve, until Baptista won on serve and took a 3-1 lead. Baptista went on to win the frame, 6-4, as he earned a singles match victory. Baptista put the Golden Hurricane up 5-0.

The No. 108 ranked player, Majed Kilani, faced off with Kenneth Boykin in the No. 1 singles match. Kilani took the opening set, 6-2, as he broke Boykin twice. In the fifth game of the second set, Kilani broke Boykin and took a 3-2 lead. Kilani extended his lead to 5-3, before he was able to break Boykin yet again, to win the second set, 6-3. Kilani's victory put TU up 6-0.

In the final match of the evening, Mareira defeated Corker in three sets, 6-2, 5-7, and 1-0 (10-7) to make the final match score 6-1, at the No. 4 position.

With the win, Tulsa improves to 6-7 overall. The Golden Hurricane returns to action Monday, Feb. 19, as it hosts the Wichita State Shockers. This will be the men's tennis team's first match in the newly formed Havoc in the Heartland rivalry. First serves are scheduled for 6 p.m.
