2018-19 Tulsa Women's Basketball Schedule
The Tulsa Golden Hurricane women's basketball team will play four games against 2018 NCAA Tournament teams and a potential seven total games against 2018 postseason teams, as the non-conference schedule was announced today.
Six of TU's potential 13 non-conference opponents finished last year with 20-plus wins, including Belmont, who finished with 31 victories.
Tulsa will begin the season at home against Stetson on Nov. 6, before playing three-straight road games against American University (Nov. 9), Belmont (Nov. 12) and crosstown rival Oral Roberts (Nov. 17). The AU Eagles made the NCAA Tournament last season after finishing 26-7, while Belmont concluded the year ranked No. 23 in the Associated Press Poll after posting a 31-4 mark and advancing to the NCAA Tournament, and the Hatters and Golden Eagles both earned 17 wins a year ago.
Tulsa will come back home to play Saint Louis (Nov. 20) before heading back on the road to take on Stephen F. Austin (Nov. 24). Both SLU and SFA played in the WNIT last year and concluded the year with 17 and 25 wins, respectively.
The Hurricane will face the Abilene Christian Wildcats (Nov. 28), which recorded 16 wins last season, before playing in the Arizona State Classic (Dec. 1-2) where they will take on Alabama, and either Arizona State or LA Tech. Alabama totaled 20 wins and made an appearance in the WNIT, while the Sun Devils finished with a 22-13 mark and advanced to the Second Round in the NCAA Tournament., and the Bulldogs earned 19 victories a year ago. Tulsa's matchup against the Crimson Tide will be their first meeting in program history, while the potential game against Arizona State will only be the second meeting between the two schools as ASU earned an 80-69 win during the 1984-85 season in Tulsa.
TU will finish up the road trip with a game at Arkansas State (Dec. 9) before ending non-conference play with three home games against Little Rock (Dec. 17), Arkansas (Dec. 20) and UTEP (Dec. 29). The Red Wolves earned 15 wins a year ago, while Little Rock finished last season with a 23-10 mark and played in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament, and UTEP had a 17-14 mark.
The American Athletic Conference schedule will be announced at a later date.
