
Tulsa’s Martina Okalova Earns No. 54 Spot in Preseason Oracle/ITA Tennis Rankings

TEMPE, Ariz. – University of Tulsa women's tennis star Martina Okalova earned a No. 54 singles placing on the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's 2018-19 Preseason Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis rankings, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The junior from Slovakia earned all-conference honors this past season, with Okalova finishing the season ranked No. 80 in the ITA singles rankings.
The standout wrapped up the season with an overall mark of 21-8 and a 14-5 record in dual matches at the No. 2 position.
As a team, Tulsa completed the season with an overall 23-6 record, including six wins coming against top-35 teams. Among those top-35 wins was a 4-2 victory over No. 16 Baylor during one of Tulsa's two seven-match winning streaks.
The Hurricane concluded the postseason with a record of 5-1, which included an American Athletic Conference Championship and two NCAA tournament victories.
Fall play for head coach Dean Orford's squad kicks off this weekend, Sept. 15-16, at the Norman UTR.
