Freshmen Duo Compete in Pre-Qualifying Singles Draw

TULSA, Okla - Tulsa women's tennis freshmen Laia Conde Monfort and Lian Benedejcic wrapped up pre-qualifying draws on Saturday at the Saint Francis Health System ITA Women's All-American Championships. The women's pre-qualifying singles draw are being held at the Case Tennis Center at LaFortune Park.

Conde Monfort started the tournament by defeating Ohio State redshirt senior Danielle Wolf 6-2, 6-4. She would fight her way back into the second set, eventually winning back-to-back games to capture the match.

The freshman later played No. 125 Megan Davies of South Carolina in the second round, where she lost 6-0, 6-1.

Bendejcic was the first Golden Hurricane in action on Saturday, as she faced Arkansas's Jackie Carr in the opening round. After dropping the first set, Benedejcic started to get into a rhythm midway through the second set. But she could not catch up to the junior Razorback.

Benedejcic is set to compete on Sunday, Oct. 6, in the pre-qualifying singles consolation bracket. She's scheduled to play Stephanie Schrage of Princeton at 10 a.m.
