Tulsa Men's Tennis Competes in Main Draws on Wednesday

TULSA, Okla. - The Tulsa men's tennis team competed in the singles and doubles main draws on Wednesday at the 2019 Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships. The Golden Hurricane have played all of their matches at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

Due to inclement weather, the Golden Hurricane were forced to play all of their matches inside on Wednesday. The transition from outdoor to indoor courts also messed up the start times for all matches scheduled throughout the day.

Sophomore Kody Pearson faced freshman Andres Martin of Georgia Tech in his opening round draw. Martin would win the opening set 6-2, but Pearson would mount a comeback in the second set. The 96th ranked player in the 2019-20 Preseason ITA Division I Men's Individual National Rankings, would fight back from a 3-1 deficit to force a tie at 5-5. The two competitors would exchange games, before Pearson claimed the set, 7-6. Neither player led by more than one game in the third set, as Martin captured match point 7-6.

After competing in doubles play on Monday, freshman Juan Pablo Cenoz competed in the singles main draw against No. 17 Adam Walton of Tennessee. Cenoz would fall in straight sets to the junior Volunteer 6-3, 6-2.

In the doubles main draw, sophomores Stefan Hampe and Tom Thelwall-Jones faced Baylor's Constantin Frantzen and Matias Soto. The Golden Hurricane would fall to the Bears 6-4, 6-4.
