LEXINGTON, Ky. - The University of Tulsa's Taylor Horsfall has been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-North Region Team as an Honorable Mention, as announced by the organization on Tuesday. Horsfall becomes the eighth Golden Hurricane and 10th member of a TU volleyball team to ever earn AVCA All-Region honors, including the first since 2013.
"Taylor Horsfall deserves whatever awards she is given, and more," Tulsa head coach Ryan Wills said. "She plays volleyball at a level that would be highly successful in every single conference in America. She represents the University of Tulsa in a first-class way that we are all proud of. Her work ethic, talent, and humility are a dream to coach. Taylor will leave a legacy that should be imitated by any serious athlete that wants to be successful on and off the court."
A native of Houston, Texas, the senior defensive specialist/libero is having a career year for the Hurricane. Earlier this season, she became the third Hurricane to ever recorded 2,000+ career digs at Tulsa. She currently ranks second in program history in career digs with 2,421.
For her career, she has set four individual match records and helped the Hurricane record two team records, including a tie for the fifth-most digs in a single match with 112 vs. Houston (10/12) this season. She holds the top two single season digs records, and is the only libero to register 700+ digs in a single campaign.
Horsfall leads The American and stands sixth in Division I in digs per set, averaging nearly six digs a game (5.99). Her 737 total digs also lead the conference and rank second in the nation. She is within 20 digs of breaking the career record for digs at TU, as well as The American record. Horsfall can also break her record for most single-season digs in both program and league history.
This season, Horsfall earned her second Libero of the Year award in The American. She was also voted first team All-American. In total, she is a three-time all-conference recipient, having earned first team accolades twice and receiving second team accolades once.
Horsfall was named to The American Women's Volleyball Championship All-Tournament team. Throughout the regular season, she was named Defensive Player of the Week six times and earned a spot in the conference's weekly honor roll four times.
The Golden Hurricane return to action on Thursday, as the host Weber State in the quarterfinal round of the National Invitational Volleyball Championship. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased in-person on Thursday, and at the link above through Wednesday night. General admission tickets are on sale for $8.00 each. Groups of 15-or-more can buy discounted tickets for $5.00 each.
