Tulsa Travels to Lawrence for Matchup with No. 12 Kansas

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa women's tennis squad (7-4) begins its three-week road trip with a Saturday match against No. 12 Kansas (4-1) at 12 p.m. CT in Lawrence.

The Jayhawks enter the weekend posting a 4-1 overall mark, with victories over Northwestern, No. 18 Illinois, Wichita State and Nebraska. The team's lone setback came from a 4-3 defeat at the hands of Big-12 rival Oklahoma State.

Tulsa leads the all-time series against Kansas, 15-12-1. In the teams' last meeting a season ago, the Jayhawks took a 6-1 victory inside the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

Heading into this weekend, head coach Dean Orford's squad boasts a solid 7-4 overall record. TU went a flawless 3-0 in the Hurricane Invite, along with the team's best victory to date last weekend, taking down Arkansas 4-1 inside the Case Tennis Center.

The Golden Hurricane is led by senior Martha Matoula and junior Vera Ploner in singles, both of whom have 6-2 marks in solo play. Matoula handles the No. 2 position for Tulsa, while Ploner primarily plays in the third spot.
