Tulsa Tandem Moves Up to No. 7 in Oracle ITA Doubles Rankings

TEMPE, Ariz. –University of Tulsa women's tennis duo of juniors Martina Okalova and Vera Ploner were ranked seventh in the NCAA in doubles in the latest Oracle ITA rankings, the organization has announced on Wednesday.
 
The Tulsa tandem boasts a 7-3 record at the No. 1 spot for the Golden Hurricane heading into this weekend's road matches.
 
Senior Martha Matoula was also ranked 87th overall in singles, as she paces the Golden Hurricane, earning a 7-2 mark in solo play in the dual season. Matoula marks the first TU women's athlete inside the singles top-100 of the 2019 season.
 
Sitting at 7-5 overall, head coach Dean Orford's squad has went up against a slew of nationally-recognized teams, already having played against five top-25 opponents in 2019.
 
The team as a whole is a strong 7-2 inside the Michael D. Case Tennis Center this season, including picking up a 3-0 record in the Hurricane Invite and a 4-1 victory over Arkansas in Tulsa.
 
This weekend, the Golden Hurricane will travel to Bozeman, Montana, for two road matches against Montana on Saturday at 10 a.m. CT, followed by a Sunday matchup with Montana State on Sunday at 10 a.m. CT.
