
Tulsa Suffers Setback to No. 24 Oklahoma on Friday, 4-1

NORMAN, Okla. – The No. 45 Tulsa Golden Hurricane men's tennis squad (9-7) captured the doubles point, but fell to No. 24 Oklahoma (9-3) on Friday night, 4-1, inside the Headington Family Tennis Center.
Tulsa took the back-and-forth doubles point to kick off the match, winning at the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles spots over the Sooners. Joshua Goodger and Tom Thelwall-Jones notched the first doubles win for TU with a 6-4 victory over the Sooners' Jake Van Emburgh and Max Stewart.
In a back-and-forth affair at the No. 1 spot, junior Jarod Hing and sophomore Boriss Kamdem secured the 1-0 advantage for Tulsa with a tiebreak win over OU's Alex Bakshi and Ferran Calvo, 7-6(5).
In solo play, the Sooners managed to tie the match up at 1-all, as Siddall fell to Stewart, 6-2, 6-1. To go up 3-1 in the match, No. 24 Oklahoma managed wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 singles spots, as Goodger and Majed Kilani fell in straight sets.
The Sooners claimed the decisive point at the No. 3 spot, as Hing fell in a three-set battle to OU's Ferran Calvo, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1.
Both remaining singles matches were in the third frame when the match was clinched, as Stefan Hampe was trailing 2-0, but Kody Pearson was near-victory leading 5-2.
Tulsa will get its chance to rebound at home on Sunday, hosting No. 34 South Carolina inside the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT on the indoor courts.
