Tulsa Fours Finish Ahead of Louisville at Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational

The Tulsa Varsity 4+ and 2nd Varsity 4+ both finished ahead of Louisville at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational in Oak Ridge, Tenn., on Sunday morning.
"I'm really pleased with the progression of the team from the first races yesterday to today," Head Coach Kevin Harris said. "We clearly had rust on us from not being on the water as much as we wanted to be due to weather this month, but the team worked really hard to get into a racing mentality. The 2nd Varsity 8+ did the best racing today as they fought Louisville all the way down the course. We are excited to get home for spring break training this week, but we are happy we had the chance to race and make ourselves faster."
In the Varsity 4+ race, Madison Bickle, Julia Olawumi, Daniela Fusco-House, Bobbi Forster and Nicole Workman earned a second-place time of 6:32.644. The Golden Hurricane trailed Virginia (6:24.696), but finished nearly 10 seconds ahead of Louisville (6:42.117).
Lindsey Smith, Nichole Backus, Amy Pitzel, Meredith Galloway and Helen Cassellius posted a similar result in the 2nd Varsity 4+. Virginia won the race in a time of 6:31.757, followed by TU (6:40.420) and Louisville (6:47.180).
Tulsa's Varsity 8+ and 2nd Varsity 8+ both finished third in their races with Virginia and Louisville on the day.
Tulsa will return to action on April 5-6 at the Sunshine State Invitational in Sarasota, Fla.
