TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa volleyball team and head coach Ryan Wills have announced the addition of Turkish standout Dilara Gedikoglu to the 2019 roster on Saturday.

"We are very happy Dilara has chosen to be a part of the Tulsa volleyball family," Wills said. "She plays for one of the best clubs in Turkey, which will prepare her well for the high-level competition in NCAA volleyball."

Gedikoglu, an accomplished outside hitter from Alanya, Turkey, found success as a member of Galatasray Volleyball Club. While in Turkey attending high school at Cekmekoy Kayi in Istanbul, she won a Balkan Beach Championship with the Turkish Beach National Team in 2017.

Gedikoglu was a distinguished member of the Galatasray youth team Istanbul 2 league (youth league within Istanbul) from 2015-18, as well the Galatasray youth team Turkey 5 league (youth league within Turkey) in 2017.

"Dilara is strong, athletic and played at a high level in her home country," Wills added. "Her competitive maturity should come in and impact our team immediately. Being from another part of the world, she will bring life experience and diversity to our team that will benefit both her teammates and coaches."

As a whole, the 2018 Tulsa volleyball squad saw another successful season under Wills, picking up the team's first postseason bid since 2013. The squad finished the year with a 19-12 overall record, marking the third time in Wills' five-year tenure the team has reached 19 victories in a season.
