NEW ORLEANS, La. – The University of Tulsa men's tennis team (11-10) dropped its afternoon match to No. 43 Tulane (9-11) at the City Park Tennis Center on Friday, 7-0.
The Green Wave held strong in doubles on its home court, taking the No. 1 and No. 2 positions to clinch the doubles point. Jarod Hing and Boriss Kamdem fell 6-3, while Majed Kilani and Kody Pearson narrowly dropped their match at No. 2, 6-4.
Tulane kept the momentum in solo play, nabbing all six first frames over the Golden Hurricane. The Green Wave extended its advantage to two with a straight-set win, as Tyler Schick won 6-2, 6-0 over Hing.
In nearly simultaneous fashion, the Green Wave managed to clinch the match, picking up victories at the top three spots within 30 seconds of one another. No. 64 Ewan Moore edged out Kilani, 6-0, 6-3, while Joshua Goodger dropped to Hamish Stewart, 6-2, 6-4.
Pearson would also fall in his match to No. 96 Luis Erlenbusch, 6-3, 6-3. Courts 5 and 6 would go the way of the Green Wave as well, as Stefan Hampe and Kamdem fell in straight sets to give Tulane the match sweep.
Head coach Vince Westbrook's bunch gets its chance to rebound on Sunday, as the UTSA Roadrunners travel to Tulsa for a 1 p.m. CT matchup at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
