TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa volleyball team and head coach Ryan Wills have announced the addition of the team's second Turkish national, Aysu Dalogullari, to the 2019 squad on Saturday.
"Aysu is an explosive athlete who will make our gym better every day," Wills said. "With the addition of her and the rest of our signees, our 2019 recruiting class is loaded with good athletes."
Dalogullari, a 5-foot-11-inch outside hitter from Istanbul, Turkey, played for Vakifbank Sport Club, a decorated Turkish volleyball club that has earned numerous international championships. While in Turkey attending high school in Uskudar, Istanbul, her Vakifbank youth team earned first place in the Istanbul Conference.
Also a member of the Vakifbank second league team, Dalogullari added another gold as the team took first in its respective league. She played as captain of the Turkish Federation Sport School team from 2011-2017, which won a number of medals between youth and high school championships.
"Aysu has been training and competing for one of the best club teams in Istanbul," Wills added. "We're excited for her to bring that high level of experience and competition with her to Tulsa."
As a whole, the 2018 Tulsa volleyball squad saw another successful season under Wills, picking up the team's first postseason bid since 2013. The squad finished the year with a 19-12 overall record, marking the third time in Wills' five-year tenure the team has reached 19 victories in a season.
