Tulsa, Okla. – The Tulsa track and field team sent a select group to the Golden State on Thursday and Friday, picking up six top-10 TU all-time marks at the Bryan Clay Invitational and Mt. Sac Relays in California.
Veteran Alyssa Bolliger kicked off the week for the Golden Hurricane in the Bryan Clay, running in the fifth of six heats in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase. Bolliger ran to the tune of 10:26.09, taking first overall in her packed heat and a personal-best time for the Canada native.
Along with a massive personal record, Bolliger's time marked the third-fastest in school history in the event, less than two seconds off the best TU all-time mark.
The Golden Hurricane added two names to the men's 800-meter record books, courtesy of Grey Howard and Robert Tully. Howard also ran a No. 3 Tulsa all-time mark earning a 1:48.46 PR in the first heat.
Shortly after in the second 800-meter heat, Tully followed suit with a season-best of his own and the seventh-fastest mark in school history in 1:48.94. Along with the TU success, the race overall saw six athletes break the meet record on the day.
Tulsa also had a strong showing in the 5,000 meters at the Bryan Clay, as Caitlin Klopfer continued her stellar track season with a time of 16:40.09. Klopfer's mark was 23 seconds faster than her previous best, along with the No. 6 time in school history in the event.
At the Mt. Sac Relays, both Ben Preisner and Peter Lynch recorded top-10 times in TU all-time in the 10,000 meters. Lynch ran a lofty personal record in 29:29.15 for ninth all-time, while Preisner ran his second-best all-time mark for 10th in school history in 29:29.35.
Allison Bailey continued the record-setting narrative in her own right, picking up a 2:10.41 in the 800 meters for her best outdoor time since joining TU. On Friday night, Adrena Mazzei closed out the week for Tulsa in the 1,500 meters.
Mazzei posted a personal-best time of 4:27.52 in the packed Bryan Clay field to conclude the California trip for the Golden Hurricane.
Head coach Steve Gulley's bunch will continue action next at the historic Drake Relays on April 25-27. A season ago in Iowa, the Tulsa men's distance medley relay quartet won the race in 9:42.75 for the first time in school history.
