ORLANDO,
Fla. – Tulsa doubles duo of Martina Okalova and Vera Ploner wrapped up its decorated season on Thursday, falling to USC's No. 1-ranked Angela Kulikov and Rianna Valdes, 6-1, 6-2, in the NCAA doubles quarterfinal round.

Despite the loss, Okalova and Ploner cap off their historic junior seasons under head coach Dean Orford. The duo reached a program-high in the NCAA Doubles tournament, as well as becoming the second and third All-Americans in school history, joining Anousjka van Exel with the prestigious status.

The women of Troy took momentum early in the first frame, holding then breaking immediately to go ahead 2-0. After a late TU hold to bring the set back to 5-1, USC served it out to tally a 6-1 set win and the match advantage.

The second set played out much the same, as USC claimed an early 2-0 advantage in the frame on the back of a break on Okalova's serve. Okalova and Ploner began to find their footing late, holding serve to go down just 3-2 in the second. The tournament's No. 1 seed rallied off three-straight games to clinch the straight-set victory in the quarterfinals.

The Golden Hurricane duo caps off their junior season with a 29-7 record, to go along with a 15-4 mark in dual matches. The tandem, which began the season ranked as the fourth-highest in the NCAA, tallied a lofty 10-4 record against ranked foes this season.

With a record-breaking season under its belt, Orford's bunch will shift its focus to the upcoming 2019-2020 season. The University of Tulsa will prepare to host the Men's and Women's ITA All-American Championships combined for the first time in fall 2019.
